About Me
My road to becoming a therapist has been long and varied. After many years working in entertainment and living abroad I chose to make a significant career and life change. Why psychotherapy? Because it works. The curative nature of the therapeutic relationship is transformative. Having completed my master's degree at Pepperdine, I began my clinical training by working with elementary and middle school children coping with education concerns, anxiety and trauma. I received further training at the Center for Individual and Family Counseling in North Hollywood supporting individuals with dissociative identity disorder, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, mood and attention disorders, grief and loss, substance abuse, trauma and attachment issues. I am now a fully licensed clinician (LMFT).
Credentials
|
I completed my Bachelor's Degree in English at UCLA and received my Master's degree in Clinical Psychology (MA with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy) from Pepperdine University. I have been studying Psychology since 2009 and I am versed in many theories which I use in my practice. I study mindfulness with Jerome Front (a leader in the Mindfulness community) in Los Angeles and at Esalen in Big Sur. Jerome studied under Jon Kabbat-ZInn, the creator of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and author of many Mindfulness books including "Wherever You Go, There You Are", 1994. Jerome has been my mindfulness teacher and has been instrumental in helping me hone my mindfulness skills. I have also been trained in EMDR (see full description) and have worked extensively with trauma and addiction.
